Our Mission

Our Mission

The Ethics in Action Collective (EAC) is an independent, values-driven initiative that promotes the raising of ethical standards and professionalism among mental health professionals in Malaysia. We advocate for ethical excellence through education, shared values, and the co-creation of the Malaysian Psychology Charter — a framework designed to guide the ethical practice of psychology in the Malaysian context.

Our work is not limited to clinical or counselling psychologists, but extends beyond mental health practitioners, to all developing and emerging branches of the psychological profession, including those in research, education, organisational, community, and forensic settings. Together, we aim to foster a culture of ethical awareness, accountability, and collective growth across the wider psychological community in Malaysia.

Our mission is to promote a culture of awareness, accountability, shared responsibility, and meaningful action in upholding a shared professional identity within the field.

While “do no harm” remains a core ethical foundation, the EAC recognises that ethical practice extends beyond individual client work to include integrity, honesty, and accountability in relationships among professionals. In reality, ethical challenges are rarely simple, and preventing harm is not always straightforward or possible, especially when working with high-risk clients or within complex systems.

The EAC, therefore, aspires to promote an upholding of a higher order of moral principles that balance care, justice, respect, and professional responsibility. Through these values, we seek to deepen ethical reflection and public trust in the profession.
